We are thrilled to announce that the Darcy Group has officially transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT)! This news comes as the company reaches a significant milestone – 90 years in business.
Becoming an EOT means that our company is now 100% owned by our employees. This decision reflects our commitment to rewarding the people who have helped build our success over the last nine decades and ensuring long-term stability for our business.
Why Employee Ownership?
- Empowering our team – every employee now has a stake in the company’s future.
- Securing our legacy – employee ownership ensures continuity, preserving our company’s values and culture.
- Driving growth and innovation – with a shared purpose, we’re set to achieve even greater success together.
90 Years of Darcy
The company has been operating since 1935, first as a manufacturer of a range of emulsifiers and wax emulsions before later expanding the product range to include paints, fuel additives and refractories.
After the second world war, the business pivoted. Darcy has been focused on spill control for the last sixty years, bringing to market innovative products that serve to protect the environment and keep businesses compliant with environmental regulations.
In 2025, we’re a leading manufacturer of practical pollution control products and services supplying customers worldwide. We supply government organisations, including the Environment Agency and the Ministry of Defence, and our expert team members sit on boards and advisory panels for industry organisations.
Change for Good
Until now, the company has been family-owned. The transfer of ownership to the Employee Ownership Trust will deliver smooth business succession, long-term business sustainability, and tangible benefits to employees whilst retaining company culture and values and avoiding external buyers.

Richard Proctor, Group Managing Director of the Darcy Group, said:
“Becoming an Employee Ownership Trust is a proud and emotional milestone. This business has always been about the people who make it what it is, and this move is a way to recognise their hard work, commitment, and belief in what we do.
“I’m genuinely excited for the future, knowing that our team will have a real stake in shaping it and continuing with the values that have always driven the business.”
We want to thank our customers, partners, and team members for their continued support. This transition marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, and we look forward to building a stronger future — together.
